Only the search can be bought right away, for €19. It names the books and years that can be read. After it, you decide whether to order Family or Heritage.

The search
€19 ≈ UAH 970 at the NBU rate, payment in euro
A written report on where your family’s books are kept and whether they can be read.
- Archive, fond, opys and sprava (collection, inventory, file), and years.
- What of it is online, with links.
- Have a tree already? Send a GEDCOM file, and we continue from it.
- The €19 counts in full toward any work that follows: Family or Heritage.
- Can be given as a gift certificate.
Family
€490 ≈ UAH 25,100 at the NBU rate
- Both sides of the family: your father’s and your mother’s.
- Record extracts with archive references, and a readable transcription of each.
- A mark next to every fact: fact, family testimony or version.
- Stories of the people, built from the facts, and family photos next to them.
- A private family website with a password, access for your family. An offline copy and a GEDCOM file.
- In Ukrainian and English.
- The scope is fixed after the search: a named list of books and parishes, 4–6 weeks.
- After the search, €471 to pay.
Heritage
from €990 ≈ from UAH 50,600 at the NBU rate
Everything in Family, and more than the main research.
- Agreed extra depth: earlier periods and additional sources, where they survive.
- Side branches of your choice.
- A separate stage after delivery: we check new information the family recalls.
- Scope, price and term are agreed after the search.
The aim of the research: to trace the history of your family back to the start of the 19th century. We estimate how far the sources allow during the search.
* If official requests to archives are needed, the term can extend: the law gives an archive 30 days to reply, and sometimes we wait longer. We pay for the requests: up to two for Family, up to four for Heritage. The search works only with sources that are online.
Smaller jobs happen too, for example one file, or checking an existing index against the scan. Its price is named in the search report.
The search can be given as a gift: you pay the €19, and print the certificate separately.
3 answers the search gives, and when the money is returned
An index already exists
An index is an alphabetical list of names made for the book, like the index at the back of a volume. It holds no ready-made tree. Through it we find entries faster, check each against the page of the book, and read on into the years and books it does not cover. The €19 counts toward Family or Heritage.
The books can be read
There is no index, but scans exist. We read the books page by page. We name the files, the tier and the start date, and the €19 is counted toward the price of Family or Heritage. If you do not order a continuation, the €19 is not returned: it paid for the report.
There are no scans
We return the €19 only when the catalog shows no book of your parish for the years 1850–1917. If the books survive but are not scanned, that is not grounds for a return: we offer a paid order for copies from the archive, and the €19 is counted toward its price. The list of archives and files stays with you.
Other cases
-
The search has not started yet
You can cancel with one email, and we return the €19 in full.
-
The books have been read, and the surname is not in them
This is a paid result: a proven “no entry” with a list of frames. You never pay anyone for these pages again.
-
The search said it was possible, and the sources became unavailable during the work
We return the unspent part, and the report says why.
What we promise about the books, and what we do not
We promise
- We will read the named books. The report will list the frames reviewed.
- Every fact links to a scan, and a person checks it against the scan.
- Every “no entry” comes with proof that the book is intact: the records are numbered without gaps, and the years are closed with the priest’s signature and a seal.
- We prove the link between generations with a record that gives the name, patronymic, place and year. If a record does not give certainty, we say so and name the sources that might help.
- You get a private family website with a password, access for your family, and a copy that opens without the internet.
- The price, named before payment, does not change during the work.
We never promise
- A number of generations, or the year the research will reach.
- That an ancestor will be found.
- A portrait of an ancestor.
- A search without limits: the scope is named as a list of books and parishes.
- A Family term shorter than 4 weeks.
- Records younger than 75 years. The law closes them.
- Books that are not online and of which the archive does not issue copies.
3 steps from payment to the report

Payment
You pay €19 by card, through Stripe.

Questionnaire
The questionnaire opens right away: region, town or village if you remember it, the surname in every spelling you know, and approximate years. The last question: start right away, or wait out the 14-day withdrawal period.
-
The written report with the findings
The report arrives within five days after the questionnaire, if it asks to start right away. Without that request, we first wait out the 14-day withdrawal period, counted from the day of payment, and the report arrives within five days after that period. The five days are counted from the day you complete the questionnaire: we cannot start the search without your details.
Family and Heritage are paid only through the link in the search report. So it is impossible to pay for books that do not exist or cannot be read. Write questions before paying to pytannia@rodovidarchive.com; we answer in Ukrainian or English.
The right to withdraw: 14 days
You order the service over the internet, so EU law gives you 14 days to change your mind without explanation and get your money back.
- To start earlier, write in the email with the questionnaire: “I ask to start the work right away and understand that the right to withdraw is lost for the part already done.” For Family and Heritage, you write the same sentence in reply to the email with the report. If you withdraw afterward, you pay only for the part already done, and the rest is returned. Without this sentence we start once 14 days have passed.
- One email to pytannia@rodovidarchive.com is enough to withdraw. We return the money the same way you paid, within 14 days of your email.
Full terms are on the Rights page. After payment, a questionnaire about your family arrives at your email. It also opens right after payment.
The place name and maiden names: what to ask your family before paying
The search benefits most from the name of the town or village as it was said at home, and the maiden names of mothers and grandmothers. Look for them in a grandfather’s military papers, parents’ birth certificates, old envelopes with a return address, and gravestones.
