What these books can and cannot tell you
They can
- Show the towns and villages where the surname was recorded in 1917–1960.
- Suggest which oblast to start the search in.
They cannot
- This is a count of places, not people or ancestors.
- An absent place does not mean the surname was never used there.
- A shared surname does not establish family origin or kinship.
Do you know the village your family came from?
Give us the surname and the village; we reply by email whether the parish books survive. It is free. Next is the search: a letter on where your family’s books are kept.
Free check first, then the search if the books exist. If the catalog shows no register of the parish for 1850–1917, we refund the €19.
