Surname index online
A free surname index and scans are both online, the link is in the table below. The index speeds the search up; each entry is checked against the scan, and the years outside the index are read from the scans.

Which rite this index covers. The Polish genealogical society index covers mostly Roman Catholic parishes, and where it does not say otherwise, we read the record the same way. If your family is Greek Catholic or Orthodox, your surname may not be in this index at all, and that does not mean the books do not exist: it means no one has indexed them yet.

The years above are what is indexed or scanned in the named sources, not what survives in the archive: the archive almost always holds more.
What open catalogs do not show: the parish's full extent from clergy records, filial villages recorded in the same books, files the free catalogs do not read, and the order in which to open them.

An index speeds the search up
The index is open and free: an alphabetical list of the names in a book, with no family tree in it. Through it we find the entries faster, check each one against the page of the book, and read on into the years it does not cover.
What a reading delivers: a private page behind a password, a name, a year and a crop of the very frame next to every person found. See real people we found, the demo tree or a sample written report.
